We asked for a new sample. Why?

In brief

Your sample failed one of three quality checks, usually DNA yield. The replacement kit is free and adds about three to four weeks.

Before sequencing, every sample is checked for volume, DNA yield after extraction, and purity. A failure on any of the three means we can’t produce a report we’d stand behind.

The most common reason is low DNA yield, which usually traces back to an under-filled tube or eating shortly before collecting. It says nothing about your health.

Replacement kits are free and ship within one business day. Your processing clock restarts when the new sample reaches the lab, which typically adds three to four weeks.

If a second sample also fails, we move you to a cheek-swab kit and a specialist stays on your case until it’s resolved.
